how adults prepare for natural disasters

After the gym, Future Husband pointed out that we should probably "prepare" for the hurricane. We went to the grocery store and bought the following items:

Enough dog food for a week, little candles, extra coffee, a case of Beck's Dark, and.... (BEST THING EVER!!) Pumpkin Harvest from Blue Moon! This is an amazing seasonal beer that I wait every year for, so I had to buy it when I spotted it in the case.

I also found two new flavors of Larabars - Peanut Butter Cookie and Coconut Cream Pie. I can't wait to try Coconut! I had half a PB while cooking dinner, and it was pretty delicious!

Tonight's workout consisted of bicep curls, lunges, tricep pull-down (double and single arm), and double pulley rows. After 30 minutes on the elliptical, we called it a night. I was tired from the 20.25 miles I ran over the weekend and just wasn't feeling it!

Dinner - Naked Burrito Spinach Salad

This is a really easy two pot dinner. I made brown rice in one pot, and in a wok I combined the following ingredients and cooked on Medium Low for 25 minutes:

  • 6 ounces ground turkey (99% FF)
  • Chopped green pepper
  • Chopped red pepper
  • Chopped red onion
  • 1/2 packet of taco seasoning (pretty high in sodium, but that's alright every now and then).

After 25 minutes, I added in the following and cooked for another 5 minutes:

  • 1/2 cup black beans
  • 1/4 cup frozen corn

I served it over a bed of spinach and topped with some chopped green onion. This made three portions (2 man-sized and 1 bride-sized). :)

I think I'm going to go to bed early and bang out a 5.0 mile run before work. The weather is going to make it difficult to run for a few days, so I better get it in while I can! Sleep tight, everyone!
